A beautiful gold and amethyst arts and crafts necklace dating to circa 1910.  The design is similar to Liberty designs but the necklace is unmarked and the maker and designer are unidentified.  It is possibly North American.  The gold is at least 14 carat and the amethysts a good saturated purple colour.

The condition is excellent and original.

A very similar necklace, clearly by the same maker, appears on page 16 of Elyse Karlin’s book “Jewelry and Metalwork in the Arts and Crafts Tradition”.

Marks: Unmarked.

Material: Gold (14ct or better), amethysts, seed pearls.

Condition: Excellent.

Size: Length c 36 cm, drop 4cm from largest pearl down.

Weight: 8 grams.
