Georgian Yew Domed Top Tea Caddy.

A charming late 18th century George III period burr yew wood tea caddy of relatively small proportions, having attractive inlaid decoration to hinged dome top enclosing lidded interior.

This delightful little late 18th Century tea caddy really does have great charm and character.

Smaller than the majority, it is also exceptionally well executed in its construction, boasting fabulously well figured burr yew veneers and elegant inlaid decoration. 

Clearly well loved and cherished throughout over 200 years of life and use this tea caddy remains in excellent condition, with an excellent untouched colour and patina. 

Tea was a precious commodity throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and the purpose of a tea caddy was not just to preserve the and extend the life of the precious tea leaves, but also to enable the owner to lock away those aforementioned valuable tea leaves, keeping them safe from the house staffs potential wandering hands.

This tea caddy comes with a fully functioning lock and key, plus has been cleaned and traditionally waxed polished in our workshops before being offered for sale.
