Georgian Mahogany Childs Chest Of Drawers.

A Good Quality George III Period Mahogany Childs Chest Having Well Figured Rectangular Top, Over Two Short And Two Long Drawers With Replaced Brass Handles And Ebonised Strung Decoration, Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet.

Children's furniture is generally found much less often rarer than its full size and scale counterparts for many reasons, the most obvious of which being that there was simply far less of these effective scale models produced.

Generally children's furniture was made to the same specifications, but on a smaller scale, for the children of wealthy families to have and to use.

This childs chest is certainly a pleasant one, good quality and constructed from good, well figured mahogany. The brass knobs are later replacements, it would probably have had turned wooden ones originally, however these brass ones work rather well and sit very attractively.

It's a good size to use for a whole host of modern day purposes, including the most obvious which is of course as a small lamp type table, or coffee table alongside a chair or sofa. It would also work rather well as a bedside type table.

As with all items which we offer for sale this childs chest of drawers has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers to ensure that it is in excellent retail showroom condition and ready for immediate placement.

Circa 1800.
