A very good quality and exceptionally close matching pair of 18th century Mahogany Bedside Night Tables, or tray top commodes.
Having galleried tops over tambour doors and converted pull out drawers, raised on square chamfered legs.
A very good example of a typical Georgian bedside night table design.
These have almost certainly been produced in the same workshop as they have near identical construction features with just some extremely minor detailing differences between them, as is nearly always the case with these objects.
We regularly see matched pairs offered for sale that are nowhere near as similar to each other as this particular pair and they are almost certainly as close as you will find to a matching pair, without having to pay for a much more rarely found, and significantly more expensive "true pair".
They continue to prove an extremely popular option for bedside tables due to their relative sturdiness (especially when compared to various other bedside options), the storage they are able to offer and the tray type tops which make it much less likely items perched on top will get knocked over.
Circa 1770.
