A very elegant George I oak dresser base.
Dating to the first quarter of the 18th century and almost certainly from Montgomeryshire or Denbighshire, this elegant dresser base has narrow proportions front to back.
This combined with the unusually shallow drawers make it feel very light and airy. The fielded panels on the drawer fronts are moulded from the solid and the brass knobs are original.
It has cabriole front legs with attractive carved edges at the top and below the drawers there is a strong moulding. Excellent rich dark colour and patination typical of the Welsh Marches.
75 inches long x 18 1/2 inches deep x 30 1/2 inches high.
