Petit-point, gros-point and long-stitch worked in coloured silks and wools, depicting a country village scene of blossom-crowned couples dancing around a flower-bedecked Maypole, accompanied by a bagpiper, other revellers drinking and looking on, a hound bounding in the foreground, a bird and butterfly to the sky, an acorn-laden oak tree behind, within an ornamented cartouche surrounded by abundant foliage, buds and flowers including rose, daisy, carnation and poppy-head.
