A very Rare early C19th Bird form snuff box with inward turned head. The body has carved tree branches, leaves and acorns across it. Sitting on carved legs and feet it perches very well. It opens from the head backwards on an original small brass hinge which although slightly worn, works well. This piece is extremely tactile and sits in the hand beautifully. I have never seen this particular form of bird snuff. Carved from a fruitwood (possibly apple or plum) French or Italian in origin and highly collectible. Circa 1810-20
