An extremely Rare 19th Century Turtle Snuff Box carved from solid carved Burr Maple. The head and tail beautifully carved. What I believed to be inlaid pieces of timber are actually inlaid sections of Turtle shell. Around them beautifully worked with ‘pin work’ to give the shape. The inside lined with Turtleshell. The underside carved as a turtle would look. The full length brass hinge in perfect condition. 7cm’s x 3cm’s. A very Rare and stunning Snuffbox of exceptional quality, colour and patination. In perfect condition and so Rare. Circa 1820-30.
