This very fine piece stands on three cast panel feet decorated with a beaded border. The Salver is circular in form, with a raised rim, decorated with an applied beaded band.
The centre is engraved with a contemporary shield shaped Armorial, with Crest above. The Arms and Crest are those as used by John Mirehouse of Brownslade, co. Pembroke. He was High Sheriff for the county in 1806 and died in 1823.
The family seems to have been a substantial Yeoman family who had, by some accounts, held Miresyke since the time of Edward the Confessor. The Salver is in most excellent condition and is fully marked on the reverse.
Crouch & Hannam were exceptional silversmiths, whose output consisted nearly entirely of salvers, trays and waiters.
