A rare George II Gold mounted moss agate English Snuff Box made, almost certainly, in London, circa 1750.
This very fine box is modelled in a large escutcheon form with beautifully shaded moss agates inset into the cover and base. The sides are finely shaped and decorated with reeding. The rim of the front displays a beautifully modelled scroll, serpentine, shaped thumb piece. This piece is in exceptional condition and the sides are modelled with a good thick gauge of gold. The escutcheon form was popular in Snuff Box design during the George II period.
