English Pottery Earthworm Mocha Chamber Pot.
Circa 1820.
The circular mocha chamber pot is painted with a series of black and blue earthworm or cable circles on a mirroring ochre red background in a band between continuous brown lines- three above and three below. A further brown line is found on the broad top rim. The plain loop handle has leaf terminals to the top and bottom of the handle.
This is a rare shape for mocha designs. Mocha, while made in England, was mostly made for the American market.
