Decorative and unusual set of four Edwardian silver gilt pepper shakers modelled as poppy seed pods.
Maker: William Hutton & Sons.London 1906. Retailed by Asprey and in an original Asprey box.

The crown shaped lid of the pods opens with a twist and pull-off motion so that the milled pepper can be poured into the pod. When in use the pepper is shaken out of the holes around the aperture.

The pepper shakers can be nicely complimented by silver or glass salts on the dining table.
The full set of hallmarks and maker's mark are clearly stamped near the base of the pods' stem. Each inside part of the lid is stamped with the maker's mark, lion passant and the leopards head for London.

The outstanding design of these pepper shakers is characteristic of the Edwardian period and rare.
