Georgian Davenport Imari Stone China Chinoiserie Ice or Fruit Coolers.
Stork Pattern.
1805-20.
The Davenport Stone China or ironstone ice or fruit coolers are each in four parts, each with an ice pail, liner, collar, and cover. They are decorated in a pattern called "Stork", which is pattern number 24 and one of Davenport's very few Chinoiserie patterns.
They are of baluster form decorated in an Imari pattern with cranes in a walled garden, with large branches of blooming chrysanthemums hand-painted and embellished with gilding, the bodies applied with open mouth creature mask handles in cobalt and gilding, with interior coolers similarly decorated, the collars with scroll handles, the flat covers with cobalt blue glazed dragon handles.
Marks: Stamped to bases, collars, and covers with Davenport Stone China mark in blue with a furled anchor.
