English Creamware Chinoiserie Teapot & Cover with Pierced Gallery Rim.
Circa 1775.
The circular English creamware teapot with two designs front and back. The front has a Chinoiserie painting of a Chinese lady with parasol in a garden setting with a zig-zag fence and flowers issuing from rocks. The reverse with a large spray of flowers with the cover also with two flower sprays.
The spout with a molded flower and the C-shaped handle with a reeded shape. The neck with a wide raised flaring openwork gallery with pieced holes of circles and diamond forms. The rim above and below have a pearled band top and bottom as does the flared foot. A crack to gallery invisibly repaired.
