Boston State House Staffordshire Pottery Plate.

This underglaze blue printed English pearlware plate of the Boston State House has a horse and carriage and a couple walking in the foreground.

The wide border which comes into the central well has a band on white flowering flowers on a blue background.

Built around 1795, the Boston State House was designed by the self-taught architect Charles Bullfinch, who also built state houses for Connecticut (1796) and Maine (1832) based on his design for the Somerset House in London.
