This is another especially good gold piece by the well regarded arts and crafts jewellers Barnet Henry Joseph – see archive for further examples. It is clearly influenced by the Liberty jewellery of Archibald Knox and others. The brooch is set with a lively, silvery oval of mother of pearl. The pendant is marked (slightly rubbed/obscured) for BHJ and 9 carat gold. In excellent original condition.
Barnet Henry Joseph was a longstanding jewellery company from the Victorian period that started making a range of affordable gold art nouveau style jewellery from c 1900-1920.
