"Apotheosis" of George Washington Creamware Jug.

Circa 1800-10.
The large "Apotheosis" of George Washington Liverpool transfer decorated creamware jug, is decorated in black transfer with a print of "Apotheosis" on one side with George Washington ascending to heaven, the other side with an image of an American sailing ship, the front with spread wing eagle and shield.
Dimensions: 10 7/8 inches high x 11 inches wide x 7 1/2 inches deep.
Reference: “Success to America: Creamware For The American Market featuring the S. Robert Teitelman Collection at Winterthur”, S. Robert Teitelman, Patricia A. Halfpenny & Ronald W. Fuchs II, Page 84, #12, for a Liverpool jug with an American named ship on one side and The Apotheosis on the other. The Apotheosis print was engraved by John James Barralet in 1800 and published by Simon Chaudron and Barralet in Philadelphia. in early February 1802, J.J. Barralet advertised his print "Apotheosis of Washington finished for delivery.
"The subject depicts Gen Washington raised from the Tomb by the Poetical and Historical Genius, assisted by Immortality-at his feet America weeping over his armour, on the opposite side an Indian crouched in surly sorrow, in the ground the Mental Virtues, Faith, Hope and Charity."
