Antique Derby Porcelain Set of Six Plates.

Derby Factory.

Circa 1790.

The Derby porcelain plates are decorated with fruit within a heart-shaped gilt border. The fruit depicted include grapes, plums, strawberries, raspberries and apples amongst others.

The rim in yellow highlighted with gold with a continuous polychrome leafy border. Some typical minor gilt rubbing.

The plates very closely matches in layout and design the pattern #140 allocated in the Factory pattern book.

Mark: Puce crossed batons D and #126

Reference: Derby Porcelain, F. Brayshaw Gilhespy, Spring Books, London, 1965, page 52. Brayhurst lists the painter numeral 126 for William Longden.
