Albert Daniel Rothenstein (Rutherston) (1881-1953) Pencil Studies of the Artist Gerard Chowne.

Unsigned and unframed. Drawn in either Grasse or Ronda, where the artists painted together.

Chowne, who was a talented painter showing much promise, died in a disastrously ill considered allied attack on Bulgarian positions in the Macedonian campaign in 1917.
