18th Century Mahogany Childs Chest.

A late 18th century Georgian mahogany childs size chest, having well figured rectangular top over six shallow drawers retaining original brass handles. Raised on elegant original shaped bracket feet.

Childrens furniture is often far rarer to find than its full size and scale counterparts for many reasons, the most obvious of which being that there was simply far less of these effective scale models produced.

Generally childrens furniture was made to the same specifications, but on a smaller scale, for the children of wealthy families to have and to use.

This particular childrens chest of drawers is a very attractive, 18th century example, constructed from well figured, rich mahogany timbers. The shallow drawers are also a particularly nice feature and these retain their original brass axe drop handles.

From a purely practical perspective it is the perfect size to be used in a whole host of different spaces around the home, but would make an excellent modern day coffee table type item alongside a chair, or sofa.

As with all items which we offer for sale this georgian childs chest has been attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers to ensure that it is in excellent retail showroom condition and ready for immediate placement.
