A rare and serene 15th century polychrome alabaster part panel, almost certainly Nottingham, England, circa 1450.
Carved in high relief, part of a scene from The Last Judgement, two naked souls standing with their hands in prayer on a green daisy-decorated ground facing sinister, the limbs of other souls visible behind them, along with part of an angel with the red and white 'teardrop' decoration of a wing visible to the edge.
See British Museum, acc. no. 1872,0520.31 for a comparable example, and the V&A acc. no. A.72-1946 for another scene from The Last Judgement. There appear only nine recorded examples of this subject matter.
