Worcester porcelain blue scale jug.

An exceptionally fine and large Worcester porcelain ‘Cabbage Leaf’ moulded jug, circa 1770. Beautifully hand painted in vibrant enamels, to either side, with luxuriant, large panels of Exotic Birds, amongst flowering plants, within gilt ‘C’ scroll panels, divided by vase shaped panels, containing further ‘Exotic Birds’, all upon a blue scale ground.
The neck painted with smaller panels of moths and insects, beneath a band of moulded leaves, and painted berries, and having a large Mask spout.
Having a substantial ‘C’ scroll handle, painted with panels of stylised flowering plants, and scrolls, in puce.

Hatched square mark in underglaze blue to the base.

Provenance – This outstanding example of Worcester porcelain, comes with a hand written note, detailing how the jug passed through various members of the Broadmead family of Enmore Castle, Bridgwater, Somerset throughout the 19th century.

Depth: 19 cm, 7 1/2”.

Condition: Typical minor wear to the gilding, commensurate with the age of the jug. No damage. No restoration. In excellent condition.
