Decorative pair of George III sterling silver wine coasters.
Maker: Solomon Hougham. London: 1811.

The top of the coasters are gadrooned and the sides are decorated by a band of bright-cut engraving showing birds feasting on bunches of grapes. The bases are wood and their reverse is covered with felt.

The full set of hallmarks is stamped at the bottom of the silver on both coasters and are crisp and clear, although one makers mark is slightly rubbed but clearly legible.

Condition report

Excellent but for very slight bruising at the base of one of the coasters which is commensurate with age and use.<br />These are a good and festive pair of wine coasters.
