An exceptional quality boxwood screw type nutcracker, extensively carved all over with great detail. The circular thumb piece is also carved both sides as a circular roundel. It is the best example of this type we have seen recently. The whole has a lovely honey colour and good patination.
An almost identical smaller example is illustrated on page 71 in The Art and Character of Nutcrackers by Arlene and George Wagner.
