This pair of elegant and beautiful George III antique silver candlesticks are of classical design with tulip shaped columns. The candlesticks stand on circular bases which are decorated with fern leaves. The design is repeated on the stem and nozzles.
The bases are engraved with the Coat of Arms of the Batten family of Upcerne in the County of Dorset who are descendants of Sir Francis Drake. The underside of each of the candlesticks still retains its original mahogany inserts and the condition is superb.
John Parsons and Company was a silversmith with the reputation for producing very fine Candlesticks and Candelabra.
Maker: JOHN PARSONS.
Origin: Sheffield.
Year: 1793.
