VICTORIAN Scottish Gold Hair Locket Badge.
Scotland. Circa 1880.
The family crest of a seated winged mythical beast looking left is engraved on the front of the locket. This is a 'Momento Mori' locket for a deceased loved one. The reverse shows a locket of grey hair under glass. There is a loop to attach a ribbon or chain in order to hang around the neck, there is also a sturdy clasp to wear the locket as a brooch.
Motto: 'HONESTA AUDAX'.
