Amusing pair of Victorian sterling silver besom (broomstick) salt spoons.
Maker: Robert Harper. London 1865.

Although the full set of hallmarks are clearly stamped on the front of the two brooms, the Assay marks are not in the identical place while the maker's mark is. Also the total length of one spoon is slightly longer than the other by 0.2 inches.

But the maker's mark and the Assay are the same and it is possible that each of these salt spoons was made by a different apprentice.
These salt spoons would be great fun to use or make an ideal gift.
