A fine and elegant Brampton saltglazed stoneware Puzzle Jug, c. 1840. The jug sprigged to the body, with reliefs of three seated topers, drinking and smoking a pipe, along with a large tree, and a windmill. Having three spouts, having further pierced holes, beneath the nozzles, above three reticulated friezes, and beneath a latticework gallery, with a wavy rim. The large loop handle, forming the tube that leads from the body of the jug, to the spouts.
Height - 19 cm, 7 1/2”.
Width - 19.5 cm, 7 5/8”.
Condition - Small section of glaze to ribbed rim lacking. Otherwise perfect condition.
