A rare and unusually good quality William IV Silver Fish Slice made in Carlisle in 1837 by Richard Duncan bearing the Newcastle assay marks. The slice is in the fiddle pattern with a beautifully pierced representation of a mythical fish (These are generally referred to in heraldry as a Dolphin Naiant). The slice is in good condition and a very substantial weight. The crest and initial arrangement shows that this was a wedding present for a member of the Crouch family.
