BADA Gift List - Under £1000William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
"East Keswick September 1917" is a charming oil painting on board by Greaves. The view is close to the artist's home near Wetherby, Yorkshire and is an oil painting on board measuring 9"x 12". It is signed lower right and is dated 1917. It is framed in a quality gilt frame giving an overall size of 14"x 17".
