Victorian Silver Locket circa 1881.

An elegant Victorian 'Aesthetic Movement' oval locket.

This beautful locket is intricately engraved with a flying swallow through an aesthetic scene with bamboo detailing within a ropetwist detail and a floral and heart shaped border. It is plain to the reverse.

The photo holders are still inside with their silk backing perfect for two photos. There is a  concealed hinge to one side of the locket and a large articulated bail to the top. The locket is in beautiful condition and is incredibly stylish to wear.

The Aesthetic Movement celebrated ‘art for art’s sake,’ separate of any historic motifs or meanings. 

Era: Victorian, 1839 - 1901.

Measurements: Locket 6.4cm long (including bail), 3.6cm wide.

17.4 grams in weight.

Hallmarks: Stamped to reverse Silver, Birmingham 1881, HB Makers Stamp (Henry Bamford).
