About

Thomas Glover

Andrew Glover and Catherine Thomas, ’Thomas Glover' specialise in antique and period jewellery from circa 1780 to 1960 with an emphasis on unique engagement rings from the Victorian, Edwardian & Art Deco eras, together with vintage watches from the 1920s to the 1970s.

They are Shropshire’s leading independent jeweller, based in the heart of Shrewsbury.

Andrew Glover completed a jeweller's apprenticeship and studied Gemmology at St. John Cass College in London.  In 1988 he was accredited as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association.

Having worked for a diamond dealer in Hatton Garden and gaining valuable experience in the trade, Andrew embarked on a career in antique jewellery which continues to this day.  He worked at a number of specialist antique jewellers in London including SJ Phillips, McKenna’s and Bentley & Skinner where he ran their shop in Burlington Arcade.

After a number of years selling primarily to the trade in London, Andrew set up his own business, Trivette, in 1998 exhibiting at quality fairs across the country.  Andrew has been a jewellery standards 'vetter’ at a number of established antiques fairs and is well renowned within the jewellery industry for his extensive knowledge and integrity.

Catherine’s interest in jewellery began at a young age as her Aunt and Uncle were antiques and jewellery dealers. She joined Andrew at Trivette in 2006 originally taking a break from the ‘corporate’ world but antique jewellery quickly became a passion and a permanent change of career followed.

Having specialised in wearable antique and period pieces for over 35 years, Andrew & Catherine are well known for a wide range of authentic items that are in beautiful condition regardless of their value.  They never deal in reproductions or imitations and carefully select only the finest examples for their collection.

In 2016, Andrew and Catherine opened their shop in the centre of Shrewsbury, Shropshire and changed their trading name to Thomas Glover (a combination of their family names).

From their little Georgian townhouse in Shrewsbury they also offer jewellery restoration services, repairs and restringing and a bespoke handmade goldsmith service to remodel unwanted items. Thomas Glover also exhibit at a select number of antiques fairs each year.
