A superb Victorian silver flatware service in the old English pattern for 12 people all made in 1899 by William Marshall and Sons of Edinburgh ( Sheffield hallmark ).This fine hand forged set is ‘straight’ ie all made in the same year by the same maker- increasingly rare in today’s marketplace.The service has 12 table spoons,12 table forks,12 dessert spoons ,18 dessert forks,12 tea spoons ,12 coffee spoons, 4 extra table spoons and 4 extra table forks for serving and 1 soup ladle and a pair of sauce ladles.In addition there are 12 table knives and 12 dessert knives which are modern silver with stainless steel blades.Total 115 pieces.The service includes knives but is available either with a different style of knife or without the knives.The service is in magnificent condition and looks virtually unused.
