A fabulous pair of Victorian pietre dura drop earrings.

Pietra Dura is is a term for the inlay technique of using cut and fitted, highly polished coloured stones to create images. It is considered a decorative art. This was fashionable in the late Victorian period.

These beautiful earrings have a decorative gold border and a romantic meaning with forget me not flowers to the tops and lily-of-the-valley and roses to the long drop sections.

The earrings have been converted to make the drops detachable (This was probably done in the Edwardian era in Austria as the drops have Austrian marks to the hook).

The earrings have long shepherds hooks for pierced ears.
