Victorian Apothecary Box.

The Apothecary Box of square form made from solid Mahogany with two flush mounted handles one to the bottom drawer and one to the lid and a shaped brass escutcheon. The interior of the box contains 14 glass jars within a felt lining individually partitioned. Below the bottles is a large drawer which locks via a pull out brass pin located next to the lock plate. Once the locking pin is removed the drawer opens to reveal a selection of apothecary tools including a mortar and pestle, a measuring beaker, four small jars, two tins, a bone spoon, brass scales with weights and a bundle of labels for the jars. The Apothecary box dates to the early Victorian period circa 1845.

The Apothecary box is complete with a working lock and tasselled key.
