A Very Unusual Westmorland Oak Reading/Sewing Chair. Dated 1718. Initialled H.B.
A wonderful rich colour and patination. The shaped and carved top rail initialled and dated H.B. 1718. With carved wide ears to the back with interspersed flower heads and split turnings. The single panel back above a two board seat, the square shaped arms with end cutouts for the original shelf, the original turned pegs slot into the arm ends, securing the reading/sewing shelf in place. Standing on turned front legs united by stretchers.
