A very rare Victorian silver and tortoiseshell model of a miner’s lamp, of rectangular form with a carrying handle on the hinged lid and the front with a bulb visible within a protruding hemispherical glass cover, the interior empty to accommodate a battery, applied plain silver mounts.  English, assay marks, Francis Higgins, London, 1895.
