Mid-century Walnut Sideboard Enfilade 1960 in the Manner of Vladimir Kagan.

An Unusual and Rare Mid 20th Century Walnut Sideboard / Enfilade with pyramid doors and drawers.

Probably USA - Circa 1960.

Of rectangular form with four deep pyramid styled doors flanking four central solid walnut pyramid panel decorated drawers. This sideboard utilises the classic overhanging silhouette that was popular in this period-the base section sitting in the middle of the design, therefore introducing a real element of movement to the design that would not be present were the legs placed at the corners in the more usual way.

The pyramid shaped doors are all beautifully quarter veneered, the grain in the timber used to create a pattern of squares decreasing in size as they get closer to the diamond's point. Behind each pair of doors is a cupboard section with a single shelf, with four central drawers giving ample storage space.

This unusual sideboard has designs reminiscent of Andre Arbus and Vladimir Kagan. Having obtained a wonderful colour this extremely well designed and finely constructed mid 20th century enfilade has a timeless appeal.
