Unusual Heriz carpet.
Early Heriz carpets from north west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs. They have always stood out for their aesthetically appealing designs. The tribal characteristics of early Heriz carpets give them the ability to blend in with both modern and classic spaces.
The drawing on this charming piece is unique in comparison to other classic Heriz carpets. The design characteristics of this Heriz carpet are derived from earlier, neighbouring Azerbaijan carpets of the 18th century, where each drawing in the field is creatively repeated in different shapes and vegetable-dyed colour combinations, framed by a blue border. The rare ivory field on this piece complements the variety of vegetable-dyed colours beautifully.
A handsome example with a tribal charm that would complement a wide variety of settings.
