Am unusual Afshar rug.
Antique Afshar rugs are tribal rugs woven by nomads in south west Persia and are highly appreciated for their crisp weaves, unique drawings and use of vegetable dyed colours. They are unique when compared to the more traditional pieces woven in the surrounding region.
This charming 19th century Afshar rug has a rare ivory field and a highly creative drawing in which each pattern in the central field and surrounding borders is cleverly repeated in a different colour composition with natural vegetable dyed colours which have improved nicely with age.
A true work of art to complement any setting.
