Striking Shirvan rug, circa 1890.
Antique Shirvan rugs are one of the most sought-after pieces from the Caucasus. They are highly decorative rugs with a formality and stylistic complexity that sets them apart from other rugs from the region.
A charming circa 1880 Shirvan rug with a bold graphic drawing in relation to its format. The ivory background provides great contrast to the array of natural dyed colours which have aged nicely. The field is framed by five individual borders where each drawing is being creatively repeated in different colour composition.
A unique work of art that would be a fabulous addition to a variety of settings.
