Small 19th Century Elm Farmhouse Dining Table.

An Exceptionally Charming Mid 19th Century French Elm Farmhouse Kitchen Dining Table, Of Unusually Small Proportions, Having Superbly Figured Top, Retaining Wonderful Rich Colour And Patina Throughout And One Drawer To Frieze, Raised On Four Faceted, Turned Legs.

An absolutely charming table of great size, which can seat up to eight dependent on chairs and is the perfect shape for just about any kitchen or dining room.

It retains a quite exceptional colour to the top, which is well figured and has clearly been well used throughout the years, whilst still remaining perfectly functional. Another nice feature is the drawer, some don’t have a drawer at all.

The base is very attractive, with no structural defects to speak of and this results in the table being particularly robust and solid, especially due to the strong, stable faceted legs, which add real stability to the table. It is also very much worth noticing the stretcherless design, which ensures that the support stretchers are never an issue in terms of a persons legs when trying to sit at the table. Each leg has been tipped at the bottom in customary fashion, to ensure the table is the correct height for dining.

It is far more common to find late 19th century versions of these farmhouse tables and there are generally plenty of those on the market for one to choose from. However it is quite rare to find ones like these which are from earlier in the 19th century and generally have a bit more presence to them.

As with all items we offer for sale it has been naturally wax polished, in the traditional manner, by our specialist antique furniture restorers before being offered for sale, ensuring it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
