A silver gilt Renaissance Tankard, German, unmarked circa 1600; original fire gilding; the small size of the tankard suggests it was made for a lady; it stands at 16cm in height to the top of the final, which is surmounted by a hound, and weighs 13ozs approximately; around the body there are three cartouches chased with nautical scenes.
