It’s fair to say I don’t often buy religious items, but I was readily seduced by this superb arts and craft silver and copper cross that I am attributing to John Paul Cooper.
It is made of oxidised copper (maybe bronze) and silver – the oxidised copper and decorative silver wire work being very like John Paul Cooper’s work. The cross itself is made of a single piece of copper or bronze with the centre and terminals of the cross each superbly cut out and finished in gothic style with highlights of silver. The base has been made of sheet copper/bronze and hammered out and soldered with triangular silver wirework highlights to three sides.
The cross is a very manageable 37.5 cm tall (desk size). Condition is excellent and original.
