Set of Three Nested Chinese Ebonized Trunks.
Circa 1900.
The China Trade trunks are each of rectangular form with gilt and polychrome painting of birds and flowers and landscape scenes on a black ground, all with decorative hardware and carrying handles. The body appears to be made of a papier mache type of body- light and flexible.
There is a stamp inside the cover in Chinese which is the retailer's mark.
Dimensions: Small 28 5/8" x 16 3/4" x 12" high
Medium 31 3/8" x 19 1/2" x 14" high
Large 34" wide x 22 1/4" deep x 16" high.
Condition: Good with two long scratches on top panel-see photo
