For sale is another of these fantastic sets of six Japanese Meiji period Sanju Saku silver and enamel teaspoons.  Each teaspoon with slightly different floral design and enamel to the bowl. In this case each spoon has a beautifully worked dragon to the handle terminal.

The spoons are not marked but are essentially identical (save for the handles) to a set previously in the Collection, stock number A741 and also A1099, the former carry the triangular turtle mark of the renowned Japanese maker Sanju Saku.

I am certain this is a true set of six all by that maker.  The spoons are in very good original condition with not noticeable minor enamel losses only and no restoration.   The detailing of the flowers is really outstanding, as is the modelling of the dragon handles.

Sanju Saku was one of Japan’s leading silversmiths, based in Yokahama, making and retailing silver with enamels to this style c 1880-1920.
