A set of five Kate Harris and Powell glass silver tea glasses.

These tea glasses are really a wondrous survival.  In superb condition, all five have original and beautifully elegant Powell glass inserts.

They are designed by Kate Harris, and would have been made by William Hutton & Sons. Like so much of Harris’ best work these were retailed by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths and each carries their sponsor mark and is assayed for London 1900 to the base.

The design is Harris’ classic, so called, ivy pattern registration number 352424 which is stamped on each glass.   The top of each handle is designed with Harris’ sycamore seed pod design.   These glasses are a beautiful, elegant, design and remarkable survivors.

Each silver holder is a good gauge. Note that each glass is hand blown and silver individually made so that each individual glass fits differently in each holder.

Kate Harris was Hutton’s  leading designer c 1898-1904, based in their London studio, and is famous for her distinctive British art nouveau style.
