A fine set of 18 French silver (1st standard .950 pure) table knives made by Tetard Freres of Paris in 1925.These knives are part of a substantial purchase of silver by the Maharaja of Baroda at the 1925 exposition in Paris which introduced Art Moderne to the public (Art Deco).They are all engraved with the Maharajas crest and they are clearly part of a larger set as they are numbered near the top.The Maharaja of Baroda- Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1875- 1939) was one of the richest men in the world at the time.( His palace was four times the size of Buckingham Palace)The knives are in excellent condition.
