Weathered Primitive Figure of a Bulldog
Depicted Sitting on his Haunches, Wearing a Studded Collar
Solid Cast Stone with Traces of Historic Paint
English, Mid 20th Century
Dimensions
43cms high x 29.5cms wide x 46cms deepCondition report
A handsome and charmingly weathered cast-stone figure of a bulldog. This moulded sculpture has acquired a rich surface patina, including traces of house painted decoration and lichen growth. The robust figure is sitting with front legs upright, on a black painted plinth and there is evidence of paint loss, wear and incidental losses throughout, all commensurate with its age and function. The charm and individuality of this piece are inherent to its surface patination and wear that have developed in the course of natural aging and weathering.Stock number
