A good lignum vitae snuff pestle and mortar in both heart and sap wood of traditional design, having a turned base to the mortar. The shaped pestle has a knop end. These were held in the hand for grinding snuff. The whole has a good rich colour and patination.

Provenance: Desborough Collection.
